Dota 2 is the official continuation of the original Defenders of the Alliance mod, which took the strategy game, Warcraft 3, in a direction that many never thought possible. DOTA 2 is a mixture of real-time strategy and role-playing with a healthy dose of action. You will have to control your hero as you go up against other players from around the world.
As you win battles and gain experience in Dota 2, you will be able to level up and unlock new abilities with your heroes. This opens up the door to have much more powerful attacks to support your continuous stream of creeps. But make sure to keep an eye on the Ancients as they are essential for the continued production of your base.
The maps, on which the battles of Dota 2 will take place, are normally symmetrically built to provide an even playing field for players to go at it. That means there are also plenty of towers along the pathways which give you an opportunity to earn some extra experience points and gold to help you along your way. In comparison to the original Dota, the game mechanics are almost identical, providing veteran players an easy entrance and familiar gameplay.
If you are unsure what skill level you are, there is also a single-player mode that allows you to practice and hone your skills in Dota 2. Refine your strategy and learn to use the various heroes before you step out on the battlefield and you could end up climbing the ladder quickly.
