Just recently, EA Games has released more information on their upcoming online game by letting producer Bryan Farina answer a couple of questions that came from the community.
E-Sports and Game Modes
While they are very much interested in making Command and Conquer a rising star within the e-sports community, important features like the spectator mode or replays will not be implemented when the strategy title is released. Nonetheless, giving the players the opportunity to compete against each other in a professional way is one of the top priorities once the game is up and running, says Farina. Until then, military leaders will have to fall back on the more relaxed game modes, including 1vs1 and co-op challenges.
Progression System and Rewards
According to the producer, they are continuously working on the progression system and tweaking rewards to avoid making Command and Conquer pay-to-win. They confirm that winning a match will give you more than losing (duh) and that those playing within a multiplayer environment can expect better rewards than generals that go out on their own. Making user-generated content is something they want to make happen, but is more complicated than one would think.
Single-Player and Head Count
Theoretically speaking, up to 200 people can battle it out on a single map. In practice, the developers want to start with a maximum of 6-8 players. If that works out as intended, they plan to increase that number by the time Command and Conquer goes live. While the game seems to be oriented towards multiplayer action, Electronic Arts plans to give all you lone wolves out there not just skirmishes, but also extensive campaigns to play through.
